We explore Baume & Mercier’s Watches & Wonders 2025 releases with new CEO Michael Guenoun
Jamie WeissIn a week full of flashy new watch releases and fierce competition among the biggest of big box brands, Baume & Mercier instead brought a bunch of solid, enthusiast-focused pieces to Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025 that we reckon will represent some of the savviest buying prospects among the pack once the dust continues to settle from the fair. Michael Guenoun was recently appointed as Baume & Mercier’s new CEO, and his first Watches and Wonders with the brand sees him bring a subtle, but meaningful update to the Clifton, paying attention to the Riviera brand flagship, and also a teeny tiny new Hampton. Our very own Andrew McUtchen managed to grab a few minutes of Guenoun’s time to talk about the importance of brand heritage and the three things that he focused on the most during his first 100 days in office.

Baume & Mercier Riviera Flyback Chronograph
- A flyback chronograph makes a return to the Riviera range after being absent for many years.
- It boasts a retro-styled gilded telemeter and tachymeter dial as well as elevated finishing across its case and bracelet.
- It’s powered by a La Joux-Perret 8147 and is a limited edition of 73 pieces, referencing the year the Riviera was introduced, 1973.

- For the first time, Baume introduces a Riviera Chronograph with a panda dial.
- Specifically, it features a white dial with a laser-engraved wave motif complemented by black snailed subdials and a thin snailed minute track – a classy look.
- The stalwart Valjoux 7753 movement beats within.

Baume & Mercier Clifton 39mm
- Baume & Mercier tweak the Clifton, introducing four new 39mm Baumatic-powered models with groovy crosshair dials.
- Three steel models feature tasteful dials, one with a dark blue fumé and one with an opaline salmon, while a third is stark white.
- A third solid gold model dials up the luxury.

Baume & Mercier Riviera Chronograph Day-Date
- The Riviera Chronograph Day-Date has had a bit of weight loss, shrinking from 43mm to a more manageable 41mm.
- Two dial options are available in this new 41mm size: black and blue, both of which come mounted on a steel bracelet as standard.
- These are also Valjoux-powered, in this instance, the Valjoux 7750.

- Gold seems to be on Baume’s minds this year, with two new 39mm Riviera models championing this tone in different ways.
- First up is a pink gold-cased model with a blue sapphire dial and blue alligator strap.

- Echoing the panda dial Riviera Chronograph introduced this year, we also see a 42mm Riviera three-hander arrive with a black and white colour scheme.
- Simple but effective, it has a white dial with a black chapter ring.
- Rather than a Baumatic movement, it uses a Sellita SW200.
