Time+Tide City Watch Buying Guide – Melbourne
Jamie WeissYou might call Melbourne the Time+Tide mothership. It’s where we’re from and who we are. We started off in a little garage in Richmond, and now we’ve got a beautiful boutique space in the thick of it in the “Paris end” of Collins Street. So, it’s no surprise that we’ve got the inside track on all the best places to buy watches in Australia’s most stylish city. Whether you’re looking for the white glove and champagne treatment or you just want a quick in and out purchase, Marvelous Melbourne has plenty of options to suit your needs. Check out the following list of some of the best spots to see, shop and buy watches in Melbourne, in alphabetical order.
Time+Tide Watch Discovery Studio
What is this? Didn’t you say alphabetical order? Well, forgive us for tooting our own horn a bit. The Melbourne Discovery Studio, our flagship location and the first store of its kind in the world, is stocked with the latest and greatest FOMO-inducing independents like Baltic, Fears and Studio Underd0g, with cult classics like Doxa, Hamilton and Zodiac thrown in for good measure – as well as a rotating roster of special ‘Hot Drops‘ brands throughout the year. We also host plenty of events with both the big box brands and small independents alike. You can visit the Time+Tide Watch Discovery Studio on Collins Street (just next to the Town Hall) or head over to our online shop. (If you’re based in the UK, we have you covered, too.)

Situated beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Block Arcade, the displays of the Bell & Ross boutique contain as much flight gear and instrumentation as they do watches. Despite the small floor space, there’s plenty to see on the French watchmaker’s shelves. Head to Bell & Ross’ site to book an appointment with these French masters of square sports watches.

Bovet
Among the more recent additions to Collins Street’s numerous watch boutiques is Bovet, located in Cashmore on Collins in The Block Arcade. This historic Melbourne location is predated by Bovet, the brand founded nearly two decades before the building even existed. Before visiting though, make sure you catch up on the latest and greatest from the avant-garde brand.

Breitling
Breitling is not the first, nor the last brand featured on this list that owes much of its success to aviation – but it certainly has some cool Melbourne boutiques. Their locations on Collins Street and in the luxury shopping behemoth that is Chadstone is a mix of youthfulness backed by heritage, as the brand looks to support its strong recent releases with fresh-feeling stores that engage with the local community. Before deciding which watch to pick up, make sure you watch our interview of Georges Kern, Breitling CEO, as we ask him for his favourite Breitling.

Full of pilot paraphernalia and clad in wood, riveted aluminium and leather, the Bremont boutique in Melbourne is a gentlemen’s club-turned-shop. As the British brand’s only location in Australia (and one of only a handful globally), it’s a must-visit if you want to see their watches.

One of the best boutique experiences I’ve had was all thanks to the Bulgari boutique in Melbourne. Not only is the store itself gorgeous, but the staff are knowledgeable and lovely, happy to assist and explain with patience. At any time, they’ll feature a collection of Bulgari Aluminium and Octo pieces, ready to be tried on.

The Melbourne watch community has long been crying out for a Grand Seiko boutique of its own, and now here we are in 2025, with GS having opened its second boutique Down Under, at a statement-making location at the entrance to The Block Arcade on Melbourne’s Collins Street, the main vein of watch culture in the Victorian capital. Blending elements of the brand’s distinct aesthetic with the 19th-century fixtures of the space, it spans three storeys, with a private bar nook stocking fine Japanese whiskies and a spiral staircase leading up to a private lounge, ideal for getting hands-on with high-end boutique exclusives.

Jaeger-LeCoultre
The watchmaker’s watchmaker’s quaint boutique on Collins stays welcoming despite the dark interior finish and strong overhead spotlights. It certainly helps that the watches on display are a composition of the Reverso, Duometre, Polaris and others, while a few Atmos clocks quietly “tick” away.
