Christopher Ward premiers its new documentary at BAFTA in London
Russell SheldrakeHow do you follow something as successful as the Bel Canto? Well, if you’re Christopher Ward, you make something completely unexpected and chart its production process with a full-blown documentary. It seems to be the newest thing in the watch world, producing a tell-all film that gives clients and fans alike a look behind the velvet rope, or the manufacture doors, into the process of how these emotional objects are produced. And I can confirm that Christopher Ward has produced a standout piece of content with Freewheelin’.
To launch this documentary, Christopher Ward invited us to the home of BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), a national institution and a rather fitting location for the brand that has become the biggest Britain has to offer to screen this in-depth look into their process. The rather plush screening room was packed out with nearly the entire Christopher Ward team, along with the great and the good of the London watch scene to get a showing of this new documentary 24 hours before the public release.
We were treated to a little speech from Mike France, CEO, giving us the background and reasoning behind doing the documentary and call out the key people behind the project. After the screening, we were given the chance to handle the new C12 Loco and chat with the Christopher Ward team about the details of it and what it was like seeing themselves up on the silver screen.
The overall sentiment of the crowd was overwhelmingly positive. Getting an insight into how the watch was born and then handling it straight after was a truly unique experience, and if you want something similar, I would say you should watch the documentary on YouTube and then head down to either our Melbourne or London Discovery Studios to try the watch on, as the only locations outside of Christopher Ward’s own showrooms.
Have a great weekend,

Just in time for the Easter weekend, Tim Green, Head of Commercial at second-hand dealer Subdial, delivered the chocolatey goods with this rich Patek 5140 dial that is probably a good representation of what my diet looked like over the long weekend.
Time+Tide Shop pick of the week: Furlan Marri Red Hunter
To mark their fourth year of existence, the Swiss microbrand has brought us an incredibly smart time-only watch with a traditional hunter caseback allowing you to swing the solid caseback out of the way to reveal the hidden exhibition window to see the La Joux-Perret G100 automatic calibre. The inky black dial and lancet hands give this small, 36mm Red Hunter a classy feel. The watch is available for pre-order right now through the Time+Tide shop until the window closes on May 4th at 14:00 BST (23:00 AEST).

The new Christopher Ward C12 Loco is a Bel Canto killer
This week has been a big one for watch releases, and the C12 Loco from Christopher Ward is as big as they come. The follow-up to the Bel Canto had big shoes to fill, and it seems to have delivered on every front. With a completely redesigned movement and incredibly captivating design, the team at Christopher Ward has gone above and beyond on this one. And the continuing rise of Christopher Ward seems unstoppable.
