Swatch adds a stealthy green number to its Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection with the Green Abyss

  • With a new nudibranch on the caseback, the Green Abyss Scuba Fifty Fathoms brings a green tinge to the collection.
  • Its layout is identical to the initial Antarctic colourway, the highlight being a nod to the moisture level indicator at 6 o’clock.
  • The Green Abyss is still cased in Bioceramic, with a 42.3mm diameter, and is releasing on the 7th of June 2025.

After a few days of teasing, as it tends to go these days with any Swatch collab, the brand has unveiled its latest addition to the Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection. Sporting a green case, and as its name suggests, inspired by the unknown, murky depths of the world’s oceans, the Swatch x Blancpain Scuba Fifty Fathoms Green Abyss becomes the second member of the collection to sport this dial layout after the Antarctic Ocean. Similarly to the Pink Ocean and Blue Lagoon, however, it features a two-piece fabric strap instead of a single-pass NATO-style. Here are all the details you need to know.

Starting off with the overall dimensions, not much has changed. The matte green Bioceramic case is still 42.3mm wide, 14.4mm thick, and 48mm lug-to-lug. Browsing through the comments on the teaser posts, many were hoping for a smaller variant, though it seems like we’ll have to wait for that to materialise. Maybe a special variant referencing one of the 38mm Bathyscaphes? That one’s for free, Swatch.

The dial doesn’t feature the Fifty Fathoms’ signature set of numerals at the cardinal points, instead opting for printed indices all-round. They have a certain puffiness to them that gives them a three-dimensional effect, which is neat on an otherwise quite flat dial. The Blancpain and Swatch branding is proudly displayed at 12 o’clock, and is admittedly quite obtrusive as it takes up most of the upper dial portion, while the lower half sports the bi-coloured moisture indicator circle nodding to the model’s past.

Around back is where things usually get a little more funky with the Scuba Fifty Fathoms, and the same can be said here. The movement is still Swatch’s all-plastic, single-screw Sistem51 with its 90-hour power reserve and difficult-to-service components. I’m actually quite a fan of this seaweed green colourway, especially with tinges of black and beige running through it. The printing on the bridges of the Sistem51 movement keeps the scheme cohesive, and sports a new nudibranch species – the felimare picta. Though, if you ask me, I much prefer its non-Latin name – regal sea goddess just sounds much cooler, doesn’t it?
