Omega brings a touch of orange to the Seamaster Diver 300M
Russell Sheldrake- A new orange Diver 300M brings bright pops of colour to the seconds hand, cardinal indices, and the “Seamaster” text of this iconic dive watch.
- It follows the new Seamaster Diver design language, with a matte dial and mesh bracelet.
- For an extra pop of orange, Omega also offers a bright orange rubber strap.
Orange has for a long time been as a key colour for diving watches, and Omega has now brought touches of this highly visible colour to the Seamaster Diver 300M. The brand has been on a bit of a run over the last 12 months, bringing a new look and feel to the Diver 300M line. Whether they are giving us a luxe, full Bronze Gold and burgundy model; mixing Bronze Gold, titanium and green in a very No Time to Die sort of way; or shifting the narrative with monochromatism and Milanese bracelets, the new look for this line has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated. This new, date window-less aesthetic has been continued with Omega’s latest release, the Seamaster Diver 300M Orange, a watch that feels perfect for this sweltering European summer.
While the word orange in the product name might suggest a more drastic use of the colour here, Omega has decided to use the bright shade rather tactically. Highlights of orange have been added as a varnish to the centrally mounted seconds hand, the four cardinal applied hour markers, and the Seamaster logomark that has been stamped on the dial. The watch does come with the option of an orange rubber strap, which adds a proper pop of colour to the overall look. You can also get it on the new mesh bracelet that has proven to be a fan favourite since its release.
The rest of this watch is very much as you would expect from this new-look Diver 300M. We have a flat, matte dial that makes it feel closer to a No Time To Die than the classic wave dial that many of us love. Of course, there are plenty of points of continuity between this new style and the rest of the collection: the twisted lyre lugs, the conical helium escape valve, and the scalloped unidirectional rotating bezel. Omega hasn’t thrown the baby out with the bathwater.
Inside we have the trusted Omega calibre 8806, a METAS-certified chronometer movement equipped with the legendary Co-Axial escapement. This calibre has a 55-hour power reserve and can withstand 15,000 Gauss of magnetic force, an impressive feat that makes it tough enough for anyone to wear daily, especially when you pair that with its namesake 300 metres of water resistance. Measuring 42mm across and 13.8mm thick, it is not the smallest watch in the world, but that hasn’t stopped it from being one of the most respected divers on the market – and we think this summery colourway will only heighten its already broad appeal.
